Italian Olympiad of Astronomy: national round 2012

olimp_2012_finThe national round of the 2012 Italian Astronomy Olympiad has taken place in Macerata from April 14th to April 16th. The five participants selected to represent Italy at the International Astronomy Olympiad that will take place in October in Gwangju (South Korea), are:

* Junior
Lisa Da Vinchie - Liceo Scientifico  “E. Fermi” of Pieve di Cadore (BL), Francescopaolo Lopez - Liceo Scientifico “A. Scacchi” of Bari and Carlo Antonio Rositani - Liceo Classico “T. Campanella” of Reggio Calabria.

* Senior
Nicola Plutino - Liceo Scientifico “L. Da Vinci” of Reggio Calabria and Shi Chenfu - ITIS “S. Cannizzaro” of Colleferro (RM).

The Astronomical Observatory of Trieste contributes to the Italian Astronomy Olympiad by evaluating the admission tests of participants from northeastern Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige) and then selecting, with a regional round, the participants to the national round. Lisa Da Vinchie has indeed been admitted to the national round after having passed, together with other five students, the regional round organized and hosted by the Astronomical Observatory of Trieste on February 20th.

Congratulations to the five winners of 2012 Italian Astronomy Olympiad and, if you want to participate please remember that the 2013 announcement will be published in autumn on www.olimpiadiastronomia.it.
