SOLAR RADIO EMISSION MEASUREMENTS

The Solar Astrophysics Group of the Trieste Astronomical Observatory manages a solar multichannel radio polarimeter provided with a parabolic antenna with a 10 m diameter, which operates at a high temporal resolution in a frequency band ranging from 200 to 800 MHz. This instrument, which is located at the O.A.T. branch of Basovizza, permits an in-depth and detailed study of the temporal evolution of radio phenomena. Valuable information can be thus obtained on the processes of plasma occurring at the source, in the solar corona, which proves essential for a better understanding of chromospheric flares physics. Shortly, a second solar multichannel radio polarimeter with a 3 m parabolic antenna will complement the existing instrument, thereby extending the operative range to a frequency band of 1-3 GHz.

In the following we present quicklook data for selected frequencies on a daily basis.
